Mont Dol to Locquirec

Locquirec is situated on the northern coast in its own little bay. The Grand Hôtel des Bains could have been in danger of becoming a faded Victorian seaside town, but it has been modernised and when we visited in September was busy. It even offers charging for electric vehicles in its secure car park.

We economised a little too much on the room. Even though it was comfortable and reasonably spacious our view over the church and staff quarters could not compare to the wonderful sea views from the premium rooms. But we made up for this slight parsimony by lashing out on the hotel dinner each night during our 3 night stay and a very good massage in the well-equipped spa. This being September the shops and restaurants in the town were starting to close, but dining in the hotel is not the easy way out, it’s a smart choice. An excellent breakfast allowed us to continue almost until dinner, just saved by an aperitif and snack in the cosy bar.

The hotel has its own loungers and sunshades plus direct access to a small, mostly rocky beach. The main town beach provides a large sandy stretch for strolling around. For a better hike and plenty of sea breeze the walk from the hotel around the beach and to the next bay is easy going and you can continue as far along the coast as you wish.
