Seville

This was our third visit to Seville. On our first I bought a flamenco guitar and tinkered with a few flamenco pieces that I knew when I got home. But that just got me wanting more so we booked a second trip some time later and (for my birthday present) I was enrolled into the Taller Flamenco school for a week of flamenco guitar lessons. I should add that I also attended Spanish lessons in the afternoon, but the less said about that the better.

The guitar course was brilliant, even though my teacher and I had to communicate with the odd word of Spanish or English, but I cam home with enough music and video to keep me going until the next time. The next time turned out to be a 2 year gap post pandemic, and we brought our granddaughter with us to attend flamenco dancing course while I progressed on the guitar.

In our free time we found endless things to do in Seville. It’s a very walkable city with the good selection of restaurants and tapas bars that you would expect. The Alcazar, the cathedral and the Setas building are all worth more than one visit, as is just sitting at a café and watching the world pass by. And, of course, there are numerous flamenco shows ranging from the authentic to west end musical style.
