Following a delightful and stimulating week in Seville a relaxing seaside week was called for.
There was no obvious train route from Seville, Spain to Albufeira, Portugal and we did not want to fly that short distance, so we booked on a bus using a very simple Portuguese travel app. With some trepidation we hung around for a while at the bus station with no special marking for our bus. But it arrived on time, checked us on board to our reserved seats and we headed off through the Spanish countryside, arriving in Albufeira about 3 hours later.
The Hotel Porto Bay Falesia was very comfortable, right on the cliff top (with a path to the beach) and had some decent evening entertainment. The weather in February was just right for walks along the shore, but you’d have to wait until later in the year to be able to sunbather and swim. But to avoid being complete slobs for our short stay we played padderball in the hotel – a sort of cross between squash and tennis.
